We had a taste of your next album with the track « Bach Home » and a new music video quite smoothly wich tempt to discover the twelve other tracks, what we have to expect for the rest of the album ?
Well, something you can mesure, a change for example, in comparaison to the last one!
Did you kept the same soul, hip-hop, techno and house influences as both previous ?
Clarinette, flute, trompettes and all that….
I tried to bring that into the album and I find out with all the influences that came in, I almost had too much, too bombastic, too far away from what’ s the dancefloor essence. I needed to make a stop , something’s going in the wrong direction, I needed to reoriented all that !
Is there a particular reason for that you choose to reveal this song in first and make a clip for it ?
Most of time, you pull out the first song who’s the strongest. Let’s say it’s demonstrating pretty well what’s new and different of all the aspects of the album so it’s a good representation .
The exit of your last album « Sick Travellin » dates from 2012, did you take a break or you directly start working on « Ways over water » ?
Not like very pushy but you don’t stop, last time around its was the tour and you start to collect plenty things when you produce.. Like a tiny idea, keeps that, you’re doing here for years, you have like 30 sketches, and then you go straight to the studio and this is where the hard work begin so you need to split all of those because not all of those are as good as the others and then you work for two months straight where you do all the final production, the vocals recording, the sections with the musicians and all that.
How you dread the reception of this new album by the public ?
I do not know. I hopefully would be good. I’m pretty much confortable, in the album there are some tracks I never went that far away from what I originally do so I lie myself pretty much strong out of the window. I think it’s about the time is right to have that, I compare with the last album maybe I wasn’t feeling to do that a that time maybe the audience wasn’t even ready for that and it’s pretty long distance on the album but I’m very confortable.
What do you do when it’s a D-Day of your album ?
I involve myself the least possible. Usually it’s the day I do not even think about it, I just have a walk in a park cause it’s a funny felling it’s a very important day and it’s pretty nice to have this special day and then my friends ask so what do you do and I’m like euhhh I cooked!
Now you’re internationaly recognized as DJ, producer, and singer, but when the medias speak about you they always talk about your rise in rank with the title « Sky and Sand ». Are you fed up to be always likened to this track ?
They can endle it if they want to, it always depends on how good the journalist is and how deep he wants to dig in and tell the story. I know which direction is going and maybe it’s the easiest and first way to approach, of course it’s not very new and fresh to go that way but I can’t blame it, it happened the way it is, it’s all fine with that.
What was the brain wave, what pushed you to reconvert into the music ?
I did work as a musician as a hobbie since I was seventeen and being a journalist was more like my day job, i did it for like ten years, i was also pretty good in that but i have to admit i was not 100% into. There is a tiny difference between someone good at it and someone who’s really love it.
I was good in it but I had moments of doubts and in that time so when my hobbie became stronger and I was able to play show. My job of journalist is just on a sleep but not really over. Who knows ?
Because you bring out an album every two years, will we expect a fourth in 2016 ?
If it will go on that way, of course it will comes out. It’s very likely i’m not that lazy so it’s very likely.
What’s your best memory which you guard from the french public ?
The last club show not like concert show was at Palais de Tokyo and the crow was very raging, really a big time of fun !
But the concert show in the Bataclan was also very grate and i’m looking for the show on this tour in January in Le Trianon !
A question wich everybody is asking, do you have a secret to have this velvet voice ?
I don’t know, it just happened, it just came out of the blue. I always say I learn to sing in the shower ! Or maybe I smoke too much when I was young, no i’m kidding.
And to finish with our ritual question, are you really Open Minded ?
