FOREIGN BEGGARS & NOISIA PRESENTENT « I AM A LEGION »

Rencontre avec Orifice Vulgatron des Foreign Beggars et Nick de Noisia après la sortie de l’album « I AM A LEGION ».

• Est-ce que vous pouvez vous présenter ?
• Can you introduce yourselves ?

Orifice: Yo je suis Orifice Vulgatron des Foreign Beggars, voilà  Nick de Noisia, et ensemble on forme une partie de « I am a Legion ».

Orifice : Yo this is Orifice Vulgatron from Foreign Beggars, this is Nick from Noisia, and together we are partially “I am Legion”.

• Qu’avez-vous fait entre Asylum Speakers en 2003 et Contact avec Noisia ?
• What happened between the Asylum Speakers (2003) and Contact with Noisia?

Entre Asylum Speakers et Contact … Après Asylum Speakers, on a sorti un EP Crytp Drawl en 2005. Qu’est-ce-qu’on a fait d’autre, on a fait une vidéo pour Hold On en 2007 et on a sorti Bukkake Ski Trip en 2006 puis on a réalisé Stray Point Agenda en 2006. En 2009 est sorti United Colors of Beggatron et après voilà, Contact. On a commencé à travailler avec Noisia en 2007, on est allé au Pays-Bas et là on a commencé à créer quelques tracks, qui ont donné naissance à ce que vous pouvez entendre dans I am a Legion aujourd’hui. Après cette première session d’enregistrement on fait quelques 4 tracks comme Contact et No Holds Barred et on a décidé de faire un album ensemble, ça a vraiment été un projet, même si on avait peu de temps en studio ensemble, et le résultat est I am a Legion.

Oh fuck between Asylum Speakers and Contact … From Asylum Speakers then we released an EP after that called Crypt Drawl (2005) What else did we do? Did a video for Hold on (2007)  and went on  Bukakke Ski Trip (2006) then pulled the stings for Stray Point Agenda (2006), in 2009  the United Colors of Beggatron then yeah there is Contact. We began to work with Noisia about 2007, we flew over to Holland and we were starting to make tracks that was the birth of what you can see as I am a Legion today. After we had that first recording session where we made like 4 tracks like Contact and No Holds Barred we decided to make an album together so that’s been a working progress, we haven’t had that much time in the studio together but the result is I am a Legion.

• Vous êtes un des seul groupe de hip hop alternatif à faire des soirées régulièrement à Paris, pourquoi Paris ?
• You one of the only alternative hip hop band to come often in Paris, to make parties, why Paris ?

On va partout, à Paris, à Barcelone, à Los Angeles … Paris n’est pas si spécial que ça !! Non, je rigole. Jusqu’en 2006, quand on a sorti notre deuxième album, on est venu à Paris grâce à un mec de New York pour un showcase au Batofar en 2004, après on a rencontré quelques personnes en tournée et on a signé avec une agence française. On a été branchés avec le français Thomas Routier d’Excuse My French, notre guide à Paris, le premier mec qui nous a supporté et amené en France. Ce sont toutes ces raisons qui font que Paris est assez spécial pour nous, on a notre crew depuis longtemps ici.

We go everywhere, we go to Paris, Barcelona, Los Angeles .. Paris isn’t special like that ! No I’m joking. Until about 2006 when we released our 2^nd album we hardly came to Paris because of one guy who came from NY for a showcase in Batofar in 2004, then we met some people on tour and basically we signed with the French Agency and before that we hooked up with the French Thomas Routier of Excuse My French, he is entirely responsible for bringing Foreign Beggars in France so he is our guide in Paris and one of the early support of Foreign Beggars so that’s why I think Paris is special to us so you know we had a crew here from a long time.

• Pour nous, chez OpenMinded, les deux tracks vraiment lourdes sont Choosing for you et Powerplay, vous êtes d’accord ? 
• For us 2 tracks are really heavy: Choosing for you and Powerplan, do you agree ?

Ouais, je pense qu’elles sont celles en mode hardcore de l’album et celles qui font bouger.

Yeah I think they are pretty the most hard tracks in the album and make does moves as well.

• Pour finir, est-ce que tu penses que Miley Cyrus doit porter une culotte ?
• To finish do you think Miley Cyrus needs panties?

Je pense qu’elle a besoin de niquer, tu sais ce qu’il lui faut ? Ce qu’il lui faut c’est une queue.

• Es-tu vraiment ouvert d’esprit ?
• Are you really Open Minded?
